

Dr. Hiroshi Toriya delivers how the growing use of 3D data in downstream brings the next Competitive Edge to manufacturing

About the Author
Hiroshi Toriya graduated from Tokyo University in 1983 with a Bachelors Degree from the Department of Information Sciences. In 1989 he received his Doctoral degree from Tokyo University, with a Thesis titled, "A study of an interactive solid modeler containing free-form surfaces." Dr. Toriya worked with Ricoh Company Limited from 1983-1997, where he started the R&D project of solid modeling kernel, and later developed the solid modeling kernel business model. He later became director of the R&D group at Lattice Technology, and in 1999 year he was appointed President and CEO. Since then, Lattice Technology has been awarded several prestigious awards including, the best small company technology from Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun, for the Lattice kernel; and the best product and services for Lattice's XVL technology from NIKKEI Shinbun in 2000.
Dr. Toriya has successfully written two other books "3D CAD principles and applications," available in Japanese and English, and "Introduction to the 3D world," available in Japanese.
