Version 5.6 of the XVL Converters are now available for download by Maintenance Customers. All Converters have now been upgraded, but here is a list of highlights:

  • All Converters for CoCreate Modeling now support 2007 and 2008 versions of the CAD product
  • All Converters for SolidWorks now support SolidWorks 2008 and 2009 as well as 64 bit versions of the same products
  • The updated CoCreate and SolidWorks converters now also support Windows Vista as an operating system when used with CoCreate 2008 and SolidWorks 2009
  • The majority of converters already support Windows Vista. Please contact Technical Support for more information
  • New JT and STEP converters are now available
  • New conversion features for Autodesk Inventor include being able to select project files for conversion which can result in fewer errors in translation
  • The CATIA V4 converter will now skip conversion of Mockup Solid Elements

XVL Studio V8

Not yet announced to the public, XVL Studio V 8 delivers some key new features to enhance assembly animation, design review, and measurement.

These include:

  • Accurately detect geometry differences between two very similar parts. These are displayed both as a visual 3D color map as well as listed changes
  • Export of animations as AVI video formats
  • Path authoring mode - this new feature allows for assembly process paths to be manually edited to allow for interferences during assembly design
  • Measurement during animation mode allows for interferences issues to be rapidly identified and dealt with
  • Import and export of .CSV format files - especially useful for parts lists held in ERP systems
  • Binary CGM format support is now available
  • Creation of illustrations as vector curves

And many more
