Embedding 3D into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet has never been easier! Using Lattice3D Reporter, you can rapidly add 3D data, parts lists, process instructions and other data into a spreadsheet that can be quickly shared between stakeholders in the manufacturing process. This tutorial shows you how to embed usable 3D data into the spreadsheet.

Step 1. Download Lattice3D Reporter

First, Install Lattice3D Reporter (available as a free Trial download after registration at our web site - www.lattice3d.com).

3D In Excel

After installing Lattice3D Reporter, open your Microsoft Excel application.

Select an area of the spreadsheet in which you would like to display the 3D data

Step 2. Click the “Insert/Replace 3D Model” icon.

After installing Lattice3D Reporter, your Microsoft Excel will have additional tools available.

To embed the 3D data, click the 'Insert/embed 3D Model' (second button from the left as shown in Image 2). You need to have 3D XVL data available. If you do not have any XVL data, we have sample data available on our website.

(Additional registration required)

Step 3. Select XVL file and click the Open button.

XVL in Excel Select XVL file and click the Open button.

The 3d data will appear in your spreadsheet.

Simply click on the 3D window and you will be able to rotate, zoom, pan and view the 3D data

If your XVL data has parts lists embedded in the data, you can add that data too for inter-related 3D parts lists and BOMs! See our next newsletter for Tips and Tricks on adding accurate Parts lists to your spreadsheet!

Your peers, colleagues and suppliers can also see this 3D, in a usable format, by simply downloading the Free Lattice3D Reporter Viewer, available (registration required) at our web site. (www.lattice3d.com)
