Lattice3D Releases
Enhancements for Leading 3D Publishing Applications
Company responds to user requests with rapid software
releases
Los Altos, CA - May 17, 2005 - Lattice3D,
the leader in 3D Publishing, today announced the release of enhanced
versions of its 3D Publishing applications that allow manufacturers
to easily use, share and repurpose 3D data across the enterprise.
The products, named Lattice3D Embed, Lattice3D Composer and Lattice3D
Publisher, have undergone enhancements to further improve the use
of 3D data in business processes.
On release of the products in January, Dr Joel Orr,
VP Cyon Research, said, "I'm impressed. The stuff you can do
so easily with the new Lattice 3D tools just blows me away."
The applications are now more functional and even easier to use.
The latest versions add new functionality and continue
to improve ease of use for downstream users. Lattice3D has commited
to a program of regular software updates to ensure real world use
is continuously reflected in the latest versions. Specific attention
was placed on the standards-based extensibility and modular platforms.
New Applications:
Lattice3D's product suite is a set of highly interoperable XVL-based
applications that create a very agile software ecosystem. Users
have a choice of components for their current 3D Publishing needs,
as well as in the future, as internal processes evolve.
Lattice3D Embed enables interactive 3D data
to be easily manipulated and embedded in popular 2D document formats
including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and HTML. The 3D data can be rotated,
zoomed, cross-sectioned and manipulated for greater communication
of information and immediate comprehension by its readers. New features
include: measurements in cross-sectioned models, progress bars during
long operations, better document export, easier installation and
more.
Lattice3D Composer creates 3D documents linked
to interactive 3D data, 2D images, parts lists, assembly structures
and any other structured data. Composer documents may include all
these data types as well as markup text --fully cross-referenced
for collaborative problem-solving, process planning, training, design
review, and other communications. Composer documents can also be
embedded in popular 2D document formats including Word, Powerpoint,
Excel and PDF, Microsoft Office and HTML. Composer has been enhanced
in this release to offer greater hardware platform stability, an
improved user interface and simplified embedding into other documents.
Lattice3D Publisher makes publishing of intelligent
3D information into lightweight, fast-loading web pages as simple
as selecting a template and clicking a button. Interactive 3D parts,
components, or complete products can be easily communicated with
optional exploded parts views or animations. New features include
enhanced extensibility, an upgraded publishing wizard and advancements
in user interface and preview tools.
Lattice3D applications, which utilize the ultra-compressed
XVL (Extensible Viewing Language) format, have been integrated into
the systems of leading companies including Boeing, NASA, Toyota,
L3 Communications, ImpactXoft, CoCreate and Dassault Systems. The
XVL compression --typically providing 1/30 to 1/250 (better than
97%) file size reduction in a loss-less format -allows the unprecedented
use of large-scale 3D data in a wide range of conventional PC applications.
Compressed three-dimensional data is now lightweight enough to be
sent via email or incorporated into web pages without loss of detail
or visual fidelity.
3D Publishing
Development of advanced formats such as XML (Extensible Mark-up
Language) has generated a burgeoning market for 3D Publishing. The
advent of XVL creates an instant standardization for the very diverse
array of file types commonly found in the 3D design and engineering
industries, and a compression rate which allows the speedy transfer
of previously cumbersome files.
"The market for 3D publishing is approximately
$1 billion and growing rapidly," says Dave Burdick, President
of Collaborative Visions. "It is currently characterized by
a variety of ad-hoc tools used to capture 3D graphics and embed
them into MS Office, Adobe PDF, and Web documents. No dominant player
has yet emerged, but Lattice 3D is leading with a comprehensive
vision and robust solutions."
