XVL Converters translate all major CAD and 3D data formats into XVL, typically compressing 3D models 1/20 to 1/250 - and we have achieved up to 1/1000 (95%-99.9% compression).

XVL Converters access CAD models through the respective CAD system, and achieve breakthrough ultra-compression by expressing the model as highly compressed 3D surfaces that maintain both high accuracy and the visual integrity of
the original data.


XVL Converters


Lattice Technology has two types of converters: plug-in components and server-based solutions. XVL Converter Plug-ins integrate into the native desktop CAD systems and enable the user to export XVL files during design sessions.

XVL Converter Servers are independent applications that initiate XVL conversions from a command-line interface. This ‘batch’ XVL conversion processing can be off-loaded to a separate server system, thereby freeing up the user's local system. Additionally, with the optional XVL Converter Scheduler and Manager, product users can:

  • Schedule event-driven conversions from a window or command-line interface.
  • Perform batch processing to convert multiple CAD files simultaneously.
  • Automatically perform post-processing commands after each conversion.

Plug-in or Server Versions
3D CAD data conversion to XVL from within the CAD system or as a batch process on a central server.
Choice of approach to suit user implementation require-ments. Plug-in version allows the user to export XVL data directly from their CAD design session with a 'save-as XVL' function.
Bi-directional 3ds Max Conversion
The 3ds Max converter is an exception as it supports conversion from 3ds Max to XVL and vice-versa.
Bi-directional data exchange includes geometry and animations.
