PLM - a 'practical' approach to Lifecycle Management
Lattice's 'Practical' Lifecycle Management is an inexpensive approach to PLM that uses email or your favorite Microsoft application to communicate 3D data and point applications to obtain productivity improvements downstream. Job-specific applications include: Process Planning, Creating Manuals, QA Measurement and Reporting, Creating Sales Presentations, and Marketing Websites. Any one or selected users have open access to the 3D shared data.

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) has at its heart the ability for everyone involved in the lifecycle to access 3D product data. Difficulties achieving this include: the sheer size of 3D models, use of multiple CAD systems and incompatible file formats; Intellectual Property concerns; costs and system limitations.

3D-aware document — ultra-compressed 3D graphics and animations interactively linked to parts lists and step-by-step instructions

Lattice Technology overcomes these problems by ultra-compressing 3D data as XVL® (an XML-based format) so it can be easily and readily communicated to everyone involved. Our applications can be used as free-standing point solutions or they can be integrated into other systems.

Key Benefits

Deliver more efficient multi-site manufacturing communication... and enjoy these benefits:

  • 'Practical' Lifecycle Management - an inexpensive approach to PLM that uses email and MS Office applications to communicate 3D data and obtain productivity improvements.
  • More effective communication - compose and email interactive 3D-aware documents and achieve faster comprehension and better understanding via directly annotated 3D.
  • Productivity improvements - through better communication rapidly solve manufacturing problems and reduce errors for less waste and rework.
  • Improved customer relationships - contract manufacturers can provide online or email feedback e.g. graphical QA measurements.
  • Reduced localization costs - communication with 3D - especially 3D animations - to minimize the need for text translation and facilitate parallel work in multiple locations.
  • Shorten time to market - Re-use of 3D models enables and simplifies premanufacturing digital process design and animation simulation.
  • Free 3D viewing for all- Lattice Technology provides free viewers for all. No hidden costs for viewing your 3D content!
Functionality
  • Unmatched compression. With high fidelity graphics even when zoomed in.
  • Ease of use.Interactive via mouse or touch screen. Controlled accuracy ... reflect the original or be deliberately less accurate to protect IP.
  • Unlimited model size.Convert even very large CAD assemblies into lightweight, interactive 3D models.
  • Auto-updating. Measurements, annotations, and numbering all automatically carry into new documents if the original 3D data are modified.
  • Easily integrated. Embed 3D viewing and integrate applications via sophisticated APIs and SDK.
  • Superior 3D animations. Compared to Video or AVI, XVL animations are stored as highly compressed movement instructions and animated views are generated from any camera angle.
  • Interactive 3D documents. Combine 3D XVL data, 2D images, structured data, text and graphics together in a single interactive document.
  • Automatic publishing via templates. Automatically generate interactive 3D web pages that include: 3D models, animations, 2D illustrations, parts lists and databases, assembly trees, and more.
  • Batch processing. User-defined templates can be used within automated batch processing.
  • Security. Control access to your 3D data, using NIST (AES) encryption and 3 levels of password protection.
