When I try to use some features such as File Toolbar or Move Part, a dialog box appears that says, "The function requires an XVL Player Pro or XVL Studio license." How can I obtain the required license?
In addition to freely available functions, XVL Player has some additional features that require the XVL Player Pro or XVL Studio grades. To use these features, you will need to install one of following license files in the license folder: xvlplaypro.ltl, xvlstudiobsc.ltl, xvlstudiostd.ltl, or xvlstudiopro.ltl. I have XVL Player Ver. 8 installed in my computer. Do I need to uninstall it before installing XVL Player Ver. 9?
No. You can Install XVL Player Ver. 9 with your XVL Player Ver. 8 installed. Because XVL Player Ver. 9 has a different class ID than Ver. 8, they are regarded as different applications by Microsoft Windows.
After I installed XVL Player Ver. 9, it shows up in Internet Explorer instead of Ver. 8 when I double-click an XVL file. How can I make Ver 8. appear?
After you install XVL Player Ver. 9, Internet Explorer will associate XVL files with XVL Player Pro Ver. 9. For this reason, XVL Player Pro Ver. 9 starts in Internet Explorer when you double-click an XVL file. To start XVL Player Pro Ver. 8 in Internet Explorer, reinstall/Update XVL Player Pro Ver. 8.

Troubleshooting

Can't playback an animation.

Conditions:
- You are in the Edit Mode.

Workaround:
Switch to the View Mode from the right-click menu.

Can I display properties defined for each group?
Although XVL Studio can display properties (or attributes) from the Assembly Tree panel, XVL Player or XVL Player Pro alone can't access such information.

However, if you embed XVL Player inside an HTML page like XVL Web Master does, you can access properties through Player's API.
Some of my toolbar icons are not active. What's going on?
XVL Player may be in Performance mode, which disables some features in order to increase performance. To disable Performance mode, right-click in the Player window, select Environment Setup and uncheck Performance. You will need to refresh the view for this change to take effect.
Animations play back slowly on my system. How can I speed them up?
To increase the animation playback speed, set XVL Player into Performance mode. To enable Performance mode, right-click in the Player window, select Environment Setup and check Performance. You will need to refresh the view for this change to take effect.
Does the Netscape version of XVL Player support scripting?
XVL Player for Netscape does not support scripting.
XVL Player occasionally crashes. What can I do about it?
XVL Player sometimes has a problem with OpenGL hardware acceleration. Check if OpenGL hardware is enabled, and if it is, disable it. There are two ways to do this:

1) Disable Acceleration mode in XVL Player. To disable Acceleration, right-click in the Player window, select Environment Setup and uncheck Acceleration. You will need to refresh the view for this change to take effect.

2) If you are starting XVL Player from inside an HTML or Office document, switch off the OpenGLAccelerator start-up option.

Troubleshooting

Part of the Player window is black.

Conditions:
- Windows2000 or later.
- OpenGL hardware acceleration is disabled.
- Part of the XVL window was hidden when the XVL model was opened.

Workaround:
Change the viewing mode to refresh the workplace.
XVL Player crashes while reading an XVL file or immediately afterward.

Conditions:
- Using FireGL OpenGL acclerator.
- Display Model Progressively option is enabled.

Workaround:
Disable the "Display Model Progressively" option. To disable the "Display Model Progressively" option, right-click in the Player window and select "Environment setup". Then uncheck "Progressive". Restart XVL Player for this change to take effect.
XVL Player crashed.

Condition:
- OpenGL hardware acceleration is enabled.

Workaround:
Disable OpenGL hardware acceleration. To disable hardware acceleration in XVL Player, right-click in the Player window and select "Environment" setup. Then uncheck "Accelerator". Restart XVL Player for this change to take effect.
