Lattice Technology Announces Support
for 3Dconnexion’s 3D Mice

—Using Lattice Technology’s XVL Studio with a 3D mouse increases productivity and efficiency for manufacturing customers in a variety of industries—

San Francisco, May 14, 2014—Lattice Technology, Inc., an industry leader of technical communication software for the manufacturing industry, today announced support for 3Dconnexion products, the world’s leading producer of 3D mice. 3Dconnexion has certified that Lattice Technology has successfully integrated 3D mouse controls in Lattice Technology’s XVL Studio. The certification ensures that the two products work together seamlessly, resulting in increased customer productivity and efficiency.

Lattice Technology delivers solutions that build on top of existing 3D CAD design data, allowing companies to extend their use of 3D data beyond the design department to downstream segments of the product lifecycle. The company’s ultra-lightweight data model (usually one half of one percent of the native CAD model) is ideal for performing assembly process planning, creating advanced 2D/interactive 3D technical illustrations, and for authoring of advanced assembly and service instructions. The model can also be used for creating portals for service and spare parts ordering.

“By supporting 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice, we are providing our customers with a solution that will help them improve productivity and the ease-of-use of XVL Studio,” stated Bill Barnes, Lattice Technology general manager for the Americas and EMEA. “Using XVL Studio with a 3D mouse will help our users more easily and quickly author such items as technical illustrations, work instructions and animations.”

3Dconnexion allows customers to attain a level of efficiency, reliability and comfort that they would not receive from a standard 2D mouse and keyboard combination. The controller allows six degrees of freedom; users simply push, pull, twist or tilt the 3Dconnexion cap to pan, zoom and rotate. 3Dconnexion’s mice allow for a natural, two-handed use of 3D models. Average productivity increases by approximately 21% when using 3Dconnexion mice.

“We are pleased to partner with Lattice Technology, a company known for helping customers leverage value from their 3D CAD models,” concluded Mark Driscoll, Senior Director of 3Dconnexion. “The support of 3Dconnexion mice by Lattice Technology will give users worldwide advanced capabilities for using Lattice Technology applications, resulting in a more comfortable, efficient and productive 3D experience.”

About Lattice Technology, Inc.

Lattice Technology provides XVL-based software solutions – Converting, Authoring and Publishing. Our solutions enable users in functions downstream of product development to use 3D CAD data for their specific needs. XVL, which is CAD agnostic, was designed to be used outside of product development. Using XVL solutions, engineers and non-engineers alike can repurpose and leverage 3D CAD model information for functions ranging from manufacturing to service.

XVL benefits companies that produce products with high part counts, complex geometry, detailed manufacturing processes or have ongoing lifecycle support requirements such as documentation, maintenance, and training. Target industries range from those developing large products such as airplanes and automobiles to small, complex machinery and medical devices.
